Benefits
RBC Ministries is mindful of the important role benefits play in the decision to join a company's roster of employees. That's why we provide a slate of benefit options that allow employees to select a plan that best meets their individual or family needs. Fulltime and parttime employees working at least 30 hours per week are eligible for insurance coverage at the beginning of their first full month of employment. Here is a summary of the benefits we offer:

  • Medical Insurance:
    • RBC provides health coverage within a managed care plan (Physicians Care) and two different deductible plans within the network of PPOM (Preferred Providers of Michigan).
  • Dental Insurance:
    • We offer three different dental plans. Coverage ranges from basic and preventative care to orthodontia and major dental work.

The average cost for family coverage is $55 per bi-weekly payroll, and the average cost for single coverage is $18 per bi-weekly payroll. This cost includes both medical and dental coverage. Employees may change their selected package at re-enrollment each year or in the event of a change in family or employment status.
  • Life Insurance:
    • RBC covers each employee with a policy that is the equivalent of one-year's salary. Additional life insurance is available for the employee and his/her dependents at the employee's expense.
  • Disability Income:
    • Short-term and long-term disability plans are offered at no expense to the employee. In the case of a disabling event, the employee will receive checks totaling 60% of his/her income after a seven-day waiting period.
  • Flexible Spending Account:
    • RBC offers this savings program to help employees pay for medical, dental, and vision expenses not paid for under plan. A similar savings program is available to cover qualified child or dependent care expenses.
  • Pension:
  • Pension benefits are provided to employees working 1,000 hours or more per year. Our pension plan is designed to provide both a base retirement benefit (Defined Contribution Plan) and a 401k plan with an RBC matching contribution.

Paid Time Away
RBC offers several opportunities for paid time away. They are as follows:

  • Paid Bank Time:
    • All regular fulltime and parttime employees have a personal time bank that provides time away for vacations, personal, and family needs. This time can be used in as little as half-hour increments.
  • Holiday Pay:
    • We have 8 full days and 1 half day paid holidays during each calendar year. Holiday pay for a full day equals 8 hours. This is pro-rated for parttime employees.
  • Funeral Leave:
    • For loss of an immediate family member, we provide up to 4 paid days off and up to 2 days off for extended family members. Employees may receive excused time off for friends or other relatives.
  • New Family Benefits:
    • All fulltime and parttime employees are offered phase-back pay or paternity leave upon the birth of a child. New mothers can choose to phase back into a normal work schedule during the first two weeks. New dads are allowed three days of paid time off to be with the family during the first two weeks.
  • Perfect Attendance Bonus:
  • RBC recognizes hourly employees who complete any consecutive 90-day period of perfect attendance by adding four additional hours to their personal time bank. This allows an employee to earn a total of two additional days of paid time away each year.

Recognition
Recognition
Fostering an environment of recognition and encouragement is a key part of our workplace culture. Whether an employee is marking a milestone in years of service or simply going the extra distance in his or her position, it is an opportunity for the entire team to share their appreciation for a job well done.

For every 5-year milestone of service, employees are awarded a gift of their choice, an additional week of paid time off for that year, and are recognized at a special chapel service. For those who achieve 30 years of service, RBC Ministries presents a trip or a cruise to a location of the employee's choice.

In addition to longevity recognition, RBC provides many opportunities for appreciation to be shared among the staff. For example, our unique “Saying Thanks” program encourages employees to present notes of appreciation to co-workers. The employee can then redeem the accompanying “medallions” for gift certificates or RBC logo items.

The maximum tuition reimbursement is for 75% of tuition costs up to $2,000 per year for satisfactory completion of pre-approved courses. Parttime benefits are prorated.
