Bob Roller – College Athletics – Samford University

SPORTS SPECTRUM TODAY

Bob Roller
Director of Athletics
Samford University

Interviewed By: Frank Giardina

The 2008-09 college athletic year is complete. On this edition of Sports Spectrum Today, we take a look back at some of the issues in college sports with the Director of Athletics at Samford University, Bob Roller.

How is the economy impacting college athletics? Bob shares his perspective. How can athletic administrators relieve some of the pressures felt by college coaches today? Bob discusses this subject as well.

Bob also talks about some of the changes that could be taking place soon in college sports—including the elimination of marching bands, cheerleaders, and media guides. Other schools and conferences may be taking drastic measures to eliminate long trips for teams in conference play.

It’s an interesting time in college athletics. We talk about some of the issues with a longtime athletic director on Sports Spectrum Today.
